It’s not a Surprise but here is Rainy Day

When a company licenses a product from Japan, there are little details that can sometimes slip through the tracks. For shows sometimes bonus features are lost in negotiations. The Haruhi Suzumiya series was licensed by Little, Brown Inc for release in English-speaking countries, but all details that I’ve read list that they have just licensed the light novels. That would be fine but some stories have not been collected into novel format. One of those stories was just released last week in Japan in the limited first press edition of The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya. I’m not sure that they plan to release those stories, so I’ve taken the time to translate this one.

Rainy Day takes place when Kyon was in his third year of middle school. As such it has characters that have not been introduced in the anime. I can’t say that this really has any spoilers besides one line referring to novel 9, but I’d say it’s better to wait until having read that before beginning this. Without further delay, I am proud to present my translation of Rainy Day.
