Haruhi Suzumiya Re-viewing: Just Never

To play along with AT-X, a cable station in Japan that is currently re-airing the Haruhi Suzumiya anime, Yumeka, Goggen, and I are watching the same episodes aired that week and blogging our thoughts on a re-watch of the episode. This week, we break through the middle part of the dreaded Endless Eight arc. As always, each of us watch/write our thoughts on the episodes separately, so any matching thoughts are coincidental. Haruhi Suzumiya re-viewing: Lone Island solved/Endless

Welcome back to the 6th week of our Haruhi Suzumiya re-viewing. As usual, Yumeka (from Mainichi Anime Yume) and K-On! superfan Goggen are re-viewing the Haruhi Suzumiya TV anime with me as we follow the cable station AT-X’s broadcast this summer. This week, we solve one mystery, and begin another. (Wait, didn’t we do that last week?) As always, each of us watches the episodes separately and writes our own impressions/thoughts without seeing what the other two have written. Haruhi Suzumiya re-viewing: Sign/Lone Island I

Welcome to another week of the Haruhi Suzumiya re-viewing. As always, Yumeka (from Mainichi Anime Yume) and Goggen (from K-On! blogging) will join me as we re-watch the two episodes that are airing on AT-X this week. This time, we get to solve a mystery and begin another one. (Hyouka time?) Let’s continue the path through the third novel of the franchise: The Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya. (Yumeka – Haruhi, Goggen – Mio, ultimatemegax- Koizumi; Disclaimer: each of us watches the episodes and writes our own comments without seeing the comments from the others.) Continue reading

Haruhi Suzumiya re-viewing: Boredom/Bamboo

After finishing Melancholy last week, you think the series wouldn’t have anything up its sleeve, but this week we get to see the humor of the franchise as well as some focus on the least-focused of the main female trio. Time for the first two short stories in the third light novel. As always, Yumkea (of the well-known Mainichi Anime Yume) and K-On! superfan Goggen join me in this reviewing post. (Yumeka: Haruhi, Goggen: Mio, ultimatemegax: Koizumi) Disclaimer: each of the views expressed were noted individually. No one saw the other responses while writing. Continue reading

Haruhi Suzumiya re-viewing: Melancholy III/IV

This is the second in our on-going re-viewing of the Haruhi Suzumiya anime. The cable station AT-X is broadcasting two episodes a week of theHaruhi Suzumiya anime, so Yumeka, Goggen, and myself have decided to tag along week-by-week and submit our thoughts on re-watching the episodes. (Yumeka; Haruhi, Goggen; Mio, ultimatemegax; Koizumi) Continue reading

Megax’s Favorite Character #10: A Melancholic, Sighful, Boring, Disappearing, Rampaging, Wavering, Intriguing, Angry, Dissociating, and Surprising Young Woman

And so the final character to round out my top ten favorite characters should come as no surprise (after four years of course). As the titular character in the franchise that is synonymous with the phrase Light Novel in Japan, this character appealed to many all around the world. She’s been in many countries, even as a sign of peace during wartime, and is known to most anime fans. The final member of my top ten is the one who Saved the World by Overloading it with Fun: Haruhi Suzumiya! That is all!
