Blooms are fleeting: Hanasaku Iroha BD volume 9

Beginning over a year ago in April 2011, Hanasaku Iroha became my favorite show last year. The immense visual quality from P.A. Works combined with a wonderful growing up story was an absolute joy for me to view. While it had its ups and downs, overall it was a really well-done series. So now we finish the 9 Blu-ray volumes and conclude the series properly until our new work is released. BDInfo/Photobucket album

Translations master list

Since most of the front page was taken up by translation projects, I figured it would be best to make a master list sticky post instead of having each of the translation posts be a sticky. Here’s the projects I’ve worked on and their status:

Hanasaku Iroha Volume 7: Blooming love

Last year, P.A. Works broadcast their tenth anniversary work Hanasaku Iroha beginning in April. The show looked to be amazing throughout the first half, but some episodes near the middle of the series began to show faults. Volume 7 picks up from an amazing focus episode on Nako and starts the final arc of the show! BDInfo/Photobucket album

Hanasaku Iroha Volume 6: A movie blooms near

Begining in April 2011, Hanasaku Iroha appeared to be one of the bigger shows this year. Through the first 15 episodes, the show had many ups and downs, but ended on a strong note. After the obligatory swimsuit arc which provided much-needed development to Yuina, the series started to focus on characters rather than an overall plot. This continues into Volume 6, released this past Wednesday in Japan. BDInfo/Photobucket screencaptures album

Hanasaku Iroha Volume 5: Blooming in the sun and surf

After a rough patch around episode 5-7, Hanasaku Iroha began a very well executed couple of arcs with episodes 8-9 and 11-12. These two arcs, combined with this volume’s episode 13, ended the first cour of the show on a strong point. Unfortunately, this strong ending to the cour was not followed upon with the two corresponding arcs. And so we begin the low point (IMO) of Hanasaku Iroha with BD volume 5! BDInfo/Photobucket Album

Troubles Blooming: Hanasaku Iroha volume 4

With a great introductory episode Hanasaku Iroha looked to be a big contender for show of the year when it first aired in April of this year. As more episodes aired, the focus shifted to another Okada-written show, but the end of the first half was incredibly strong, dramatic, and entertaining. Two of those three episodes are featured on this fourth volume of Hanasaku Iroha. BDInfo/Photobucket album

Half a year of blooming comes to an end

The show that I was most looking forward in the spring 2011 season was Hanasaku Iroha. I had high expectations for it after viewing the fourth PV for it on Lantis’s Youtube channel last winter and couldn’t wait to start it. The first episode stunned me with the immense quality of the animation and great set-up. I pre-ordered all 9 Blu-Ray volumes that day and watched the episode 4 times that week. It’s now 25 weeks later and our story has come to an end. This is how Ohana bloomed.

Blooming through troubles: Hanasaku Iroha volume 3

Hanasaku Iroha is P.A. Works’s 10th anniversary production. It began airing in April of this year and will finish this week with its 26th/final episode. Though the airing is about to be over, the show will continue to be released until March 21, 2012 on DVD/BD. September 21st was the release date in Japan for the third volume. This is my review of said volume. BD Info/Screencapture album

Continuing to bloom: Hanasaku Iroha BD Volume 2

Beginning this spring, Hanasaku Iroha returned to its strong roots for episodes 4-6 after a change of pace in episode 3. These episodes were much better received and gave the impression that episode 3’s comedy aspect was an aberration rather than a part of the show. So continuing on in the much better first half of Iroha, let’s get to BD Volume 2! The usual Photobucket album full of screencaptures is here!

Beginning to Bloom: Hanasaku Iroha BD Volume 1

For their tenth anniversary P.A. Works decided to attempt something they hadn’t done before: a two cour original anime series. Their own staff prepared the ideas and they were able to obtain the services of Mari Okada for composing the series and Mel Kishida to design the character models. Previews began being uploaded by Lantis’s branch to promote the image song single Patricia by nano.RIPE last fall and the series premiered on April 3rd of this year. Pony Canyon began distributing the home video releases this month and I received my copy of the first volume yesterday. Let’s begin to sprout with Ohana and the rest of Kisisiou in Hanasaku Iroha! Screencaptures are located in this Photobucket Album. BDInfo
