A couple years ago, I wrote a piece talking about the Anibin blog and how the author measured resolution of anime by using the television broadcast. Later on, I noticed that the methods used to judge the productions from Kyoto Animation was a bit suspect. Simultaneously, I started to notice the photography of shows a lot more, especially on the Blu-ray versions of the show. I’ve seen many people quote that KyoAni produces at 955.5p for main feature and full HD for openings and endings. I accepted it initially as I trusted Anibin as a source, but later I started to question that as the logic behind producing something like that didn’t add up. Hanasaku Iroha
Blooms are fleeting: Hanasaku Iroha BD volume 9
Beginning over a year ago in April 2011, Hanasaku Iroha became my favorite show last year. The immense visual quality from P.A. Works combined with a wonderful growing up story was an absolute joy for me to view. While it had its ups and downs, overall it was a really well-done series. So now we finish the 9 Blu-ray volumes and conclude the series properly until our new work is released. BDInfo/Photobucket album

Hanasaku Iroha Volume 8: The end blooms near

Hanasaku Iroha Volume 7: Blooming love
Last year, P.A. Works broadcast their tenth anniversary work [i]Hanasaku Iroha[/i] beginning in April. The show looked to be amazing throughout the first half, but some episodes near the middle of the series began to show faults. Hanasaku Iroha Volume 6: A movie blooms near
Begining in April 2011, Hanasaku Iroha appeared to be one of the bigger shows this year. Through the first 15 episodes, the show had many ups and downs, but ended on a strong note. After the obligatory swimsuit arc which provided much-needed development to Yuina, the series started to focus on characters rather than an overall plot. Hanasaku Iroha Volume 5: Blooming in the sun and surf
After a rough patch around episode 5-7, Hanasaku Iroha began a very well executed couple of arcs with episodes 8-9 and 11-12. These two arcs, combined with this volume’s episode 13, ended the first cour of the show on a strong point. Unfortunately, this strong ending to the cour was not followed upon with the two corresponding arcs. And so we begin the low point (IMO) of Hanasaku Iroha with BD volume 5! BDInfo/Photobucket Album
Troubles Blooming: Hanasaku Iroha volume 4
With a great introductory episode Hanasaku Iroha looked to be a big contender for show of the year when it first aired in April of this year. As more episodes aired, the focus shifted to another Okada-written show, but the end of the first half was incredibly strong, dramatic, and entertaining. Half a year of blooming comes to an end
The show that I was most looking forward in the spring 2011 season was Hanasaku Iroha. I had high expectations for it after viewing the fourth PV for it on Lantis’s Youtube channel last winter and couldn’t wait to start it. The first episode stunned me with the immense quality of the animation and great set-up. I pre-ordered all 9 Blu-Ray volumes that day and watched the episode 4 times that week. It’s now 25 weeks later and our story has come to an end. This is how Ohana bloomed.
